EMS Response – Awareness Level/Operation Level
This updated course is a stand-alone program; responders will ultimately receive the maximum benefit by attending some/all of the classes mentioned above, as well as others with similar utility. An advanced course, EMS Response to the Large-Scale Incident (Level 2 Operations) is available segue from this program. This level 2 Operations course is a sixteen (16) hour modular curriculum designed to transition from the awareness level responder actions of the first ten (10) minutes of a large-scale incident to the expansion of the triage, treatment, transport and EMS staging functions. Each of these modules will provide additional knowledge, skills, and abilities to New Jersey’s EMS professionals during a response to these incidents.

Modular Program
In addition to this Course Introduction, the program is divided into six sections, or modules, each with its own set of goals and objectives. At the end of the course, there will be a short test to help ensure that the overall program objectives have been met, based on instructor discretion. The modules are:
Module 1: Recognition and Preparation of a Large Scale Incident
Module 2: Incident Evaluation
Module 3: S.T.A.R.T. System/NJ Triage Tags
Module 4: NJ EMS County Coordinators/NJEMSTF
Module 5: Incident Tools/ICS for EMS
Module 6: Safety and Wellness of the EMS Provider$15 per person
