On Tuesday August 9, 2022 at ~ 8:56pm paramedics from Florence County Emergency Medical Services, law enforcement officers and firefighters were managing the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Pamplico Highway in Florence.
While the paramedics were actively caring for a victim involved in the collision, a vehicle that was not involved in the initial collision drove through the crash scene and struck at least 4 people, including one of the paramedics and 2 law enforcement officers and a civilian.
Tragically paramedic Cpl. Sara Weaver died from her injuries.
Corporal Sara Weaver served briefly in the United States Air Force and was a Nationally Certified Paramedic and an Acting Crew Chief with Florence County EMS.
