    Police Officer – Lateral Transfer City of Bedford Police Department

    The City of Bedford, Ohio is accepting applications from qualified candidates to establish a Lateral Transfer Certified List for the position of Police Officer.

    General Statement of Duties: The Patrol Officer works under the general supervision of the Sergeant of Police; patrols and observes zone areas; arrest violators of laws and ordinances; investigates automobile accidents, testifies and presents evidence in Court; and performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements: Applicants must be a United States Citizen, must be 21 years of age; must possess valid State of Ohio Driver’s License.

    An Applicant must have worked as a Police Officer within the past two (2) years and have at least one (1) year full time experience or 2080 hours of part-time work as a Police Officer in any political subdivision in the State of Ohio. The Applicant must have a current State of Ohio OPOTA Peace Officer certification. Candidates with these qualifications will be given a score of 70 points. Extra points for ranking purposes will be given for: Military service (2 pts), a passing score taking the Cuyahoga Community College Police physical agility test within the past 3 years (4pts), Associates (2pts) and/or Bachelor’s degree (4pts), and residency (2pts). A maximum of 10 extra credit points can be earned by an applicant. Applications and all documentation regarding points must be presented to the Bedford Civil Service Commission by March 5th, 2021 by 4:00 pm.

    POLICE LATERAL TRANSFER- 2021 APPLICATION

    Qualified applicants will be subjected to, but not limited to, B-Pad online testing, fingerprinting, a medical examination, polygraph testing, extensive background investigation, psychological examination, and personal interview. Positive identification will be required at time of application . Please bring your driver’s license.

    Registration for any upcoming Police Agility Exams is complete through Tri-C website (https://www.tri-c.edu/workforce/public-safety/law-enforcement/law-enforcement­ advanced-training/physical-agility-police-officer-testing .html); payment is due at time of registration.
