    While on duty, Captain William Michael “Mike” Brooks contracted COVID-19 from responding to numerous emergency medical calls. He passed away from the virus on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022.

    William Michael "Mike" Brooks of Burns, TN, passed away on February 1, 2022 at the age of 59. He was born on May 8, 1962 to William J and Shirley Brooks. Mike was a graduate of Antioch High School. He enjoyed his job at the Metro Nashville Fire Department. He also liked being outside taking care of the yard. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Lefty Brooks; son, Matthew Brooks; grandparents, Robert and Lillian Pinkerton; and Niece, Jennifer Goad.
    He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 36 years, Sharron "Sherry" Brooks; children Stephen (Katie) and Mitchell (Autumn); mother, Shirley Brooks; siblings, Linda (Steve) Reed, Jeff Carter, Sally Carter, and Bobby (Monty) Hunley; grandchildren, Owen and Olivia Brooks; nephews, Mason Guelff, Harvey Carter, and Mark (Lacee) Carter; nieces, Gina (Ben) Dowell and Michelle (Chas) Edwards; many friends, brothers and sisters of the Metro Fire/EMS, and the special group at Station 13.
    The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 12:00PM on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Rolling Hills Community Church located at 4300 Park Avenue in Nashville with a service beginning at 12:00PM. Mike will be laid to rest in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens following the service.
