What's The Difference Between A Semi & Fully Automatic AED?

Posted by Tony Thomas - January 23, 2024 9:16 AM

The type of AED you need largely depends on what type of facility it will be used in. The semi-automatic AED’s need more human interaction. These types of AED’s are great in healthcare facilities where hesitancy is not a problem when using an AED. If an AED is going into a church, for example, a fully automatic would be more beneficial since it not only talks the user through each step, but it also delivers the shocks as needed without the need for a button to be pressed. Remember that a loved one may hesitate when having to press the shock button or simply be in a state of panic and with sudden cardiac arrest, one second can mean the difference between life and death. A fully automatic AED takes pressing the button out of the equation and is generally a more popular option for public use.
