On Thu morning (13-Oct-2022) Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Officer Truong Thai was murdered in the line of duty while responding to a domestic disturbance.
LVMPD officers responded to the scene and located a suspect (later identified as 24-y/o Tyson Hampton) who opened fire on two officers and the officers immediately returned fire.
Tragically Officer Thai was shot in his torso during the attack then the 49-year-old officer succumbed to his wounds a short while later with his daughter and ex-wife by his side.

We are heartbroken over the loss of one of our own here at South Central Area Command. Truong Thai was an influential officer who was passionate about mentoring and training young officers. He was killed in the line of duty following a deadly shooting. He will be greatly missed by our South Central Area Command family and the entire LVMPD. Rest in peace, Officer Thai. Thank you for your 23 years of dedication and service to our department.
