We regret to pass on the Line of Duty Death of Robert Myers, Sr. of the Danville PA Fire Department Fire Police Unit (Danville Borough Fire Police).
FPO Myers was working as a Fire Police Officer at a trunk-or-treat event on the Danville Area School District campus Tuesday evening when he was found unresponsive in his vehicle after not returning from a break. Bystanders and emergency medical technicians attempted resuscitation; however, FPO Myers did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.
In a news release, the Danville Fire Department and Fire Police said FPO Myers served as past President of the Goodwill Hose Co. and has been with the Fire Police since 1975. “Bob could be seen at calls in his younger years and, more recently, in fact, up until the time of his death, continued to help with events with the school district, Borough of Danville and where he could,” the agencies stated in the release. The Danville High School Fire Club said Myers was a "gentleman" who put others before himself and spent countless hours serving his community. Danville Borough Council stated that Myers was a "great man with a big heart. We certainly appreciate all the volunteerism and everything he did for our community. He will be missed dearly,” the council stated in a news release. FPO Robert Myers was 95 years old at the time of his passing. .
