The First Edition of FEMA's Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) Program and Policy Guide combines the 2 topics into a single volume with links to other publications and documents that provide additional process details.
It provides guidance and information useful for state, local, tribal, and territorial governments regarding federal support for their work in responding to and recovery from wildland fires.
This guide also provides administrative guidance to help state, local, tribal, and territorial governments navigate the application and use of awards for fire suppression services, airborne assets, equipment, supplies, and personnel in support of communities’ response and recovery efforts.
Policy guide updates include:
- Updated information on Labor Costs, Donated Resources, Mutual Aid, and Duplication of Benefits policies;
- Clarified and updated language regarding tribal governments;
- FMAG FEMA-State Agreement (FSA) and FEMA-Tribal Agreement (FTA) citations and language;
- and Information on Post Fire Hazard Mitigation Grants (HMGP Post Fire).
FEMA has merged and streamlined the language in the guide to:
- Provide clear and concise policy language to minimize multiple interpretations;
- Eliminate duplicative language and redundancy; and
- Provide ease in searching for policy language on specific topics.
This document also includes updates based on Title 2 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.
