Applications are closing Friday, July 16 for the Fire Department Exchange (FDX) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, October 18-22. As part of the IAFC Wildland Fire Programs, FDX provides in-person and online exchange platforms for fire departments facing wildland-urban interfa
ce (WUI) challenges. The core focus is to encourage exchanges among departments to broaden their knowledgebase, consider alternative measures, create new solutions and improve overall practices and procedures within their wildland fire programs. FDX covers key strategies such as mitigation, suppression, response, partnership, outreach and education. The Fire Department Exchange is an interactive, hands-on learning experience in which the FDX Steering Group will guide participants through facilitated discussions and breakout sessions that are centered around the FDX Key Strategies. Each exchange will include five selected participating departments facing WUI challenges at different levels from diverse geographic locations. Participants will leave with a step-by-step plan to implement change or improvement in their department.
