Earlier this week the Granite Shoals (TX) Police Department swore in a new officer -- brave little 5-year old Isabella was pinned with badge #1605-1/2 (in honor of her relationship with #1605, Sgt. Allen Miley.)
Sgt. Miley has been instrumental in coordinating fundraisers with others in the community to help her family when she is out of town during her long cancer treatments.
GSPD first met Isabella when they did a birthday drive-by at her home while she was battling neuroblastoma--a cancer usually found in the adrenal glands.
Her cancer went into remission but unfortunately it returned in 2021 and she now has high-risk neuroblastoma, according to KXAN.
Isabella started her seventh round of chemotherapy Tuesday and will spend the next 30 days in the hospital, but she proudly received her badge during a GSPD ceremony prior to checking in for treatment.
