We regret to pass on that 3 Firefighters have died in the Line of Duty during a training detail in the Qatari capital of Doha weeks before the start of the World Cup. Reports are that they were on or operating that aerial tower when it collapsed. Some reports claim water was flowing from the fire apparatus but that is unconfirmed.
They were reportedly taking part in a multi-national World Cup security exercise currently being held that includes simulations of “chemical incidents” and demonstrations. 15 foreign governments including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the Palestinian territories have sent security forces and experts for the exercise. Exercises have included fighter jet drills, a chemical attack on a stadium and handling demonstrations.
What caused the collapse and the circumstances aren't clear. More to follow. Our condolences to all those affected. Rest In Peace.
