The following was sent by the Los Angeles City Fire Department to share with all Firefighters. Please pass this on and share it far and wide. It applies to EVERY Firefighter, Fire Officer & Chief everywhere.
As you know, last Thursday, February 15th, LA City Firefighters responded to a truck on fire, which sent 9 Firefighters to the hospital after a compressed natural gas (CNG) tank exploded.
COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS (CNG) VEHICLES
Zero-emissions programs are requiring the transport industry to utilize Alternative Fuel. This transition challenges firefighters when responding to Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) related incidents. With the increase of AFV’s and the exposure to firefighters, it is critical for our members (and all Firefighters) to familiarize themselves with these types of fuel systems and be able to recognize the fuel type and proper approach.
