There are two primary 2-way radio services that the FCC allows use of repeaters for people like you and I.... GMRS & HAM Radio. Each are similar in that both can accomplish two primary features: (1) Talk with people using airwaves, (2) Use repeaters to send the signal further out. (3) But, ONLY GMRS can provide a 2-way radio service using a repeater and to do it WITHOUT having to pass a test f… Moreirst! For this reason, we use GMRS for communications within our local area and if needed, extended range using a repeater.
Note: Ham radio requires EACH person to have a license. Example: If you have 5 family members, each pays for their own license after they have PASSED a Test. Note: GMRS allows one license PER IMMEDIATE Family members. Example: If you have 10 immediate family members, you pay ONE price for a license that covers all 10 Immediate family members. Public Safety Announcement. If you see this discoloration on your vent or the neighbors vent please notify your local hvac technician and or fire department for air monitoring as soon as possible. This raises a lot of red flags and should be addressed immediately.
