For my EMS and nurse friends…

I have Parkinson’s Disease. I’ve had a couple of strokes and I’ve developed a seizure disorder. All of these can be linked to the fire service. Please wear your SCBA, the proper PPE and keep your gear clean. The good news is that I saw my neurologist last week and she said I don’t have dementia. It’s the Parkinson’s.

I’m in the hospital. Possible stroke.

ON JULY 21, 2008, FIREFIGHTER RYAN
HUMMERT WAS SHOT AND KILLED BY A SNIPER AS HE
GOT OUT OF THE FIRETRUCK ON HIS FIRST OFFICIAL FIRE CALL. TWO POLICE OFFICERS WERE ALSO SHOT AND WOUNDED.

"On Saturday morning one of our own, Lt Ben Wootson was driving with his son when he witnessed a horrific crash involving a Seminole County Sheriff Deputy. Without a moment’s hesitation, he drove to the scene to assist leaving his son in the car. When he arrived at the vehicle he realized it was on fire and pulled the Deputy from the burning vehicle a safe distance and began assessing the Deputy f… Moreor injuries. He immediately utilized the Deputies radio notifying dispatch there was an officer down, providing an accurate location and requesting the Fire Department for medical care. The passenger compartment of the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames 20 seconds after he pulled the Deputy out of the vehicle. His quick thinking and sound judgement saved this Deputies life. His actions exemplifies what it is to be an Orlando Fire Fighter. We are never off duty and are always willing to step in and assist however possible. I know you will be as proud of him and his heroic actions as we are."

I would like to participate but it’s hard with the dementia but I’m trying. I may need some help. I also have Parkinson’s and many other medical issues I’ve listed previously. Anyway, it helps keep my mind active.

I check in but it’s hard for me to participate because I have dementia. I’ve been a firefighter, paramedic, SRT medic for nearly 40 years. Below is a list of my health issues.
