Our Country’s First Responders
October 28 is National First Responders Day. This is a day set aside to honor all of our first responders – from emergency telecommunicators fielding 911 calls to EMTs and paramedics providing life-saving emergency care, to firefighters protecting our citizens, property and wildlands, and l… Moreaw enforcement officers keeping our communities safe.

National First Responders Day was first approved by the U.S. Senate in 2017 and received bipartisan resolution in the U.S. House in 2019. The goal of this day, every October 28, is to show appreciation for the collective efforts of all public safety professionals. On October 27, President Joe Biden released a proclamation from the White House for National First Responders Day thanking our first responders for their immeasurable service.

NHTSA’s National 911 Program would like to thank you for your remarkable service to our nation. Every day, we see your courage, character and compassion. We watch your sacrifice and dedication across small towns and in big cities – and everywhere in between.
