The City of Arcadia Police Department is hiring. We are currently looking to hire a full-time Police Officer. The position is for our road patrol division. All persons interested must be currently enrolled in the Criminal Justice Academy or already be State Certified.
The Road Patrol Division consists of two shifts with each shift working twelve (12) hour days (5am-5pm/5pm-5am). Road Patrol is broken up into four (4) squads, each squad changes shifts together, and shift change is every five (5) weeks. The Arcadia Police Dept. does have a take home car policy. Each officer is allowed to take the vehicle home, if they live inside DeSoto Co. The retirement system for the Police Dept. is one of the best in the State of Florida. The retirement benefit is twenty (20) years of service and a 3.65% multiplier. The City of Arcadia carries medical and health benefits for all employees and the employee has the option to purchase family coverage. The starting salary is currently $40,113.12 annually after field training, including eleven (11) paid holidays a year (12 hrs. for each holiday).
