The devastating consequences of drug use know no geographic, economic, social, or ethnic boundaries. Each year hundreds of thousands of people around the globe - rich, poor, educated, illiterate, male, female, and even young children - die from substance use disorders, and many are victims of drug-fueled violence.

Recovery is a process of change through which people improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives, and strive to reach their full potential. Even people with severe and chronic substance use disorders can, with help, overcome their illness and regain health and social function.

The Drug Enforcement Administration is advising the public of an alarming emerging trend of colorful fentanyl available across the United States. Fentanyl remains the deadliest drug threat facing this country. According to the CDC, 107,622 Americans died of drug overdoses in 2021, with 66 percent of those deaths related to synthetic opioids like fentanyl.

This drug is often called “rainbow fentanyl”. Law enforcement agencies in 18 states have seized rainbow fentanyl just last month according to the DEA. The drugs are deliberately made to look like candy and come in several forms, including pills, powder and blocks that resemble sidewalk chalk.

Please note that there are positive benefits of fentanyl, WHEN GIVEN MEDICINALLY IN THE HOSPITAL, and when needed. The way it's being sold and distributed now is illegal and has no regulation. Pay attention to your children’s social media interactions; those selling illicit drugs often use platforms like Snap Chat.
