Helping to keep offenders on the right track through their alternative sentencing or diversion program are members of the Alternative Sentencing Unit (ASU) like Deputy Terry O’Reilly.

Deputy O’Reilly is a deputy within ASU and also serves as a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team. The ASU supervises pre-arrest, pre-trial, and sentenced offenders who are required to abide by certain court-ordered restrictions. These conditions range from weekly communication to home confinement and some conditions include a GPS or alcohol monitoring device. “I enjoy assisting people through the pre-trial services and successfully completing the program. It’s truly rewarding to see someone turn their life around for the better. Working together as a team and accomplishing the goal at hand is one of the best parts of this job.

”In his work with the CISM team, Deputy O’Reilly helps agency members that have experienced a traumatic event which can range from death of a family member or co-worker to prolonged stress and aims to return those involved to a pre-event “normal” status quicker than if left to their own devices. “I love being a part of this team because I enjoy helping to support my co-workers. We interact with difficult things each day and it’s nice to have a support system of peers that have been through similar experiences.

”Before starting with PCSO, Deputy O’Reilly worked for the Haines City Police Department in their K-9 Unit and as a Field Training Officer. When he’s not working Deputy O’Reilly enjoys hitting the green for a day of golf, coaching Little League T-ball, and spending time with his family. Thank you for your service to the members of the community and fellow PCSO members, Deputy O’Reilly!
