Thirty-one-year-old Brandon Hoskins and 37-year-old Stacie Stegall have been charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering into the house that burned, killing Lexington (NC) Fire Captain Ronnie Metcalf.
As you know, Captain Metcalf (a 19-year veteran of the Lexington FD) suffered burns on 60% of his body after getting trapped in that house on Tuesday morning.
When crews arrived at the scene, they got people who were inside, out to safety. However, they reported one Firefighter missing. Members reentered the home to search for and rescue Captain Metcalf. EMS treated him at the scene and a helicopter took him to Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health where he subsequently died in the Line of Duty.
Immediately following their arrest, Lexington police also searched the room that Hoskins and Stegall were illegally occupying and found evidence of illegal drug possession. They were also charged with felony possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hoskins and Stegall were taken to the Davidson County Jail and held without bond. The investigation continues.
