Posted by Janet Liebsch - August 25, 2024 1:12 PM

It is with heavy hearts that Arkansas City KS Fire and EMS Department announces the death of Trevor Rusk -- a beloved EMT/Firefighter who dedicated his life to serving and protecting their community.

The department said Rusk joined AC Fire & EMS on June 5, 2023, and quickly became a “respected and beloved colleague, embodying our profession’s spirit of service.”

Fire Chief Stuart Cassaboom expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Rusk.

“Trevor was not only a dedicated firefighter but also a friend to many. His courage, professionalism, and selflessness will never be forgotten. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time.”

City Manager Randy Frazer said, “Trevor Rusk was an exemplary firefighter whose contributions to the safety of our community were invaluable. His loss is deeply felt not only within the department but across the entire city. We are mourning alongside his family, friends, and colleagues, and we will ensure that his legacy of service is honored in the days to come.”

KWCH reports the Kansas EMS Association said Rusk was off duty when he died.

Our prayers and condolences go out to Trevor's loved ones, colleagues and community.

Thank you for your service brother and R.I.P.
