A Marion County Fire Captain was injured while fighting a structure fire on Wednesday (yesterday) afternoon.
Companies responded to Southeast 20th Place in Silver Springs for a fire in a mobile home at 1651 hours.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes of the call but had to quickly evacuate from the doublewide mobile home due to what preliminarily appears to have been rapidly changing fire conditions.
Captain Chris Trubelhorn suffered serious burn injuries while fighting that fire, according to Marion County Fire Rescue Chief James Banta.
The Captain is sedated at Shand’s Teaching Hospital in Gainesville with significant burns to his arms, upper torso, and ears. Another Firefighter suffered minor burns.
