We regret to pass on that Forest Bend Fire Department (Webster, Texas near Houston) Fire Chief John Norris has died in the Line of Duty. Chief Norris is the husband of nationally known Fire Chaplain Wendy Norris.
Chief Norris died of a heart attack at home after operating at a structure fire in Friendswood, Texas. John became Chief in September, and he has been a part of the Forest Bend FD for the past 6 years. He also worked at the Houston FD for 32 years and retired in 2022.
A Personal Note: John was simply a wonderful man. He loved the fire service and it showed. Many of you may have met him through his wife Wendy, who runs the Texas LODD Task Force. John, Wendy and their daughter are deeply involved in many fire service groups including the NFFF. Together their life was one of dedicated, non-stop service to others.
Chief Norris is survived by his wife Wendy Chang Norris, and their daughter Catherine - all 3 had just returned from a much-awaited family trip to Europe.
