We regret to pass this on from the Syosset Volunteer Fire Department (Nassau County, Long Island, NY) the Line of Duty Death of Firefighter/Paramedic Court Cousins. Firefighter Cousins (pictured) succumbed to illness (cancer) related to the mutual aid response to the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center.
He fought 2 cancers —the first was chronic lymphocytic leukemia and the other was a transformation of that to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Just recently, the Town of Oyster Bay proclaimed Tuesday, July 23, 2024 to be: “Court Cousins Day” and presented FF/Paramedic Cousins with a Key to the Town, a rare honor and a fitting recognition to honor his public service. Court, a lifelong resident, attorney, and prominent community figure of Syosset will be missed dearly.
FUNERAL INFORMATION:
He will be reposing at Syosset Fire Headquarters, 50 Cold Spring Road, Syosset TODAY, Friday, August 2nd, 1400-1700 and 1900-2130. Department Services 2000 members assemble at Headquarters 1930 in class A uniform.
Funeral mass TOMORROW Saturday 12 at St. Edwards the Confessor Church, 205 Jackson Ave Syosset. Private cremation to follow.
