"On Saturday morning one of our own, Lt Ben Wootson was driving with his son when he witnessed a horrific crash involving a Seminole County Sheriff Deputy. Without a moment’s hesitation, he drove to the scene to assist leaving his son in the car. When he arrived at the vehicle he realized it was on fire and pulled the Deputy from the burning vehicle a safe distance and began assessing the Deputy f… Moreor injuries. He immediately utilized the Deputies radio notifying dispatch there was an officer down, providing an accurate location and requesting the Fire Department for medical care. The passenger compartment of the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames 20 seconds after he pulled the Deputy out of the vehicle. His quick thinking and sound judgement saved this Deputies life. His actions exemplifies what it is to be an Orlando Fire Fighter. We are never off duty and are always willing to step in and assist however possible.
