Ingredients

1 pound breakfast sausage

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

4 cups whole milk

1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt

2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper (or to taste)

Biscuits (for serving)

Instructions

Cook the Sausage:

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage, breaking it up with a spoon as it browns. Cook until the sausage is fully browned and no longer pink.

Make the Roux:

Reduce the heat to medium and sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage. Stir to combine and cook for about 1-2 minutes, allowing the flour to absorb the sausage fat and cook slightly.

Add the Milk:

Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to stir until the mixture begins to thicken.

Season the Gravy:

Add the seasoned salt and black pepper. Stir to combine. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. If the gravy is too thick, you can add a bit more milk to reach your desired consistency.

Serve:

Serve the sausage gravy over freshly baked biscuits.
