Rookie Keith Obert joined the Willow Park Fire Department in April of this year. A native of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Keith moved to Aledo when he was 16 and enlisted in the United States Army after his high school graduation. As a combat engineer, search and rescue was included among his responsibilities, ultimately setting him on the path to his current career.
After his service in the Army, Keith completed both EMT and fire school at Weatherford College and was happy when a position opened up with the Willow Park department. "It was a hometown opportunity," said Keith. "I knew some of the guys and everyone said it was a really good group.
"Keith's favorite thing about the job - besides his coworkers - is the continuous training the department does.
"This department is very forward-thinking," he said. "We're always improving and learning new skills.
"Keith and his wife live in Granbury with their dog and three cats. In his spare time he enjoys kayaking, camping, and other outdoor activities. We are happy to welcome Keith to the team here at Willow Park Fire-Rescue.
